Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Indoor Track and Field team returned to action this afternoon with a trip to Wheaton College for the Pre-Post Season Invitational. Leading the day was senior Brodie Jaques (Rehoboth, MA) who claimed two top finishes and a personal best on the day in the 60m while Worcester wracked up numerous personal bests across the meet.
Leading the personal record charge was the competition in the 60m where each sprinter claimed a new top time lead by Jacques with a time of 6.98 seconds for second. Coming in 12th and 13th was first year Yael Lopez (Milford, MA) in 7.28 and sophomore Tyshawn Craigg (Springfield, MA) in 7.30. In another first year and sophomore finish ALbert Kyereme (Springfield, MA) would grab 20th in 7.39 and Khalijiah King (Natick, MA) would nab 30th with a time of 8.10. Lopez would claim another personal record in the 200m with a 12th place finish in a time of 24.26 as would first year CJ Harrell (Holden, MA) in 19th at 26.10. Jacques would claim his second top finish on the track with a third place finish at 22.96. First year James Almeida (Auburn, MA) would take 13th in the 200m at 24.69 while sophomore Giovanni Casiano would come away with 18th at 25.64. Wrapping up the grouping was King in 20th at 26.38 and first year Patrick Harvey (Holden, MA) in 21st at a time of 26.55.
Starting to extend the track would find first year Michael Mireku (Worcester, MA) who finished in 17th in the 400m in a time of 54.75 alongside junior Alan Gomez (Clinton, MA) with a 25th place finish at 57.94. The 800m would see further PRs as sophomore Kelan Mahoney (Oakham, MA) claimed 8th with a 2:06.66, senior Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA) in 11th with a 2:06.89, first year Take Pettengill (Shirley, MA) in 12th with a 2:10.35 and senior Brian O'Leary (Marlborough, MA) with a 17th place time of 2:13.89. Joining the group was sophomore Jacksen Bolduc (Auburn, MA) for 15th at 2:12.85 while first year Ryan Brown (Salem, MA) claimed 21st in 2:20.73 and junior Andrew Stokes (Wilmington, MA) claimed 23rd in a time of 2:27.05. The 3000m would also prove a new top time as first year Dan Smith (Medway, MA) took home 10th in a time of 9:47.34. Junior Alex Matsuyasu would end the night in 15th on a time of 10:47.19.
The Lancers were still hitting top times in the relay circuit as both their 4x400m teams would claim new bests with the grouping of Gomez, Harrell, O'Leary and Pettengill taking 5th at 3:47.76 while their second squad of Bolduc, Brown, Lucier and Mahoney would take 6th at 3:48.26. The 4x200 team of first years Jakai Bellofatto (Worcester, MA) and Anthonio Tyndale (Worcester, MA), Craigg, and Kyereme would claim third at 1:39.05.
On the field side Jacques would continue to lead the way with a sixth place finish in the long jump on a 6.26m leap. He was joined by first year James Almeida in 15th with a 5.15m, Tyndale in 11th at 5.75m and senior Giovanni Casiano (Oxford, MA) in 13th on a 5.28m mark. IN the throwing pit sophomore Garrett Papierski (Webster, MA) would claim 6th on a 12.51m in the shot put while adding an 8th place finish in the weight throw of 11.68m. Max O'Connor (Dedham. MA) would take home a third place finish on the night in the weight throw with a 13.18m while claiming 13th in the shot put on an 11.65m landing. First years would abound in the shot put as Gavin Delgao (Douglas, MA) would claim 16th on 11.51m, Dominic Beauchesne (Dudley, MA) would take home 27th with 9.69 and Zachary Stewart ended in 29th with an 8.99m. IN the weight throw junior Andrew Lucier (Gardner, MA) would end the night in 16th with a 9.70m.
The Lancers are next back in action next Saturday for the New England DIII Championships.
