Wilbur Finishes Second Overall At Tri-States

Boston, MA --- Worcester State's Forest Wilber took home individual honors at the Saints Invitational on Friday afternoon.  Running the entire race well ahead of the rest of the field, Wilber set the meet record with a time of 26:04 over the 8K course. It was his best race of the season as he looks to defend his MASCAC conference title next Saturday at Stanley Park in Westfield, MA. Wilber's teammates also had their best outing to date.

Senior Chris Mancuso barely missed going under 28 minutes for the first time this season, posting a time of 28:04.45 for 12th place overall. Mancuso's time was just seconds off his fastest time of last season. Mancuso had moved up from around 25th place over the last two miles despite a faster than usual start. Sophomore RJ Stahelski, who has improved each week of the season, ran well again this week just missing going under 31 minutes.

His time of 31:00.87 over this moderately difficult course was a personal best time over any 8k course run as a collegian. Junior Norm Everett, another harrier who continues to show great improvement week to week, ran one of his fastest times ever to finish in 32:27.62.

As the squad seems to be moving in the right direction at the right time of the season, they will also be trying to regroup this week to be ready for the upcoming conference meet. The team has been devastated by several medical issues that have limited their numbers. Hope is high that this can be corrected in time for the Championships so that the team can have the kind of strong showing it has had in the past.
