Westfield, MA --- Freshman Alex Droby (Uxbridge, MA) led the men's cross country team at the MASCAC Championships as the males took sixth place. Droby placed 16th and scaled the 8k course with a time of 28:09.
First-year Greg Babiec (Worcester, MA/Doherty) took 35th (29:46) while sophomore Justin Hunt (Salem, MA) notched 49th with a time of 30:24. Senior captain Norm Everett (W. Bridgewater, MA) was the fourth Lancer finisher in 51st (30:33) as freshman Tim Mazeika (Millbury, MA) was right behind in 52nd (30:35).
Rookie Scott McIntosh (Harvard, MA) placed 55th (30:40) while classmate Jimmy Walker (Tyngsboro, MA) rounded out the finishers as he crossed the line in 64th (31:10).
Westfield State won their 23rd MASCAC title in first place with 37 points as the rest of the finishers were Fitchburg State (48), Bridgewater State (49), Salem State (111), Mass Maritime (130) while WSC scored 165 points.
The Lancers will compete next weekend at the New England Alliance Championships hosted by Keene State.
