Cumberland, ME --- Paced by freshmen Alex Droby
(Uxbridge, MA) and Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA), both
cross country teams placed 39th at the New England Division III
Regional’s to wrap up their respective seasons this
afternoon.
Droby was the 11th best MASCAC finisher as he covered the 8k
course in 127th (27:44) in a field of more than 323
competitors’ from 49 different institutions. Among conference
schools, Worcester State was fifth as Westfield State placed 16th,
followed by Bridgewater State (21st), Salem State (27th) and Mass
Maritime (38th).
Freshman Tim Mazeika (Millbury, MA) notched 237th
(30:01) while sophomore Justin Hunt (Rutland, MA) and senior
Norman Everett (W. Bridgewater, MA) were eight
seconds apart in 255rd (30:32) and 257th (30:40), respectively.
First-year Scott McIntosh (Harvard, MA) rounded
out the field in 271th (31:13).
Donohue capped off an impressive freshman campaign as she led the
women’s cross country team as she scaled the 6k course with a
time of 25:08 for 138th out of 315 entrants. Sophomore Meg
Plant (Franklin, MA) added 173rd (25:52) while sophomore
Molly Gates (Worcester, MA/Doherty) and senior
Adrienne Fisher (Wilmington, MA) each finished
256th (27:35) and 278th (28:18), respectively.
Freshman Nicole Boudreau (S. Windsor, CT) was the
last female finisher in 290th (29:14).
Paced by senior standout Kerry Arouca’s finish in 5th
overall, Westfield State took 17th while Bridgewater State was
right behind in 18th. Salem State tallied 35th while the Lancers
were the fourth best MASCAC institution in attendance.
The harriers will take a three week break until the indoor track
season kicks off when both teams head to Smith College on December
5.
