Men's Cross Country Places Third At Jim Sheehan Invitational

Fitchburg, MA --- Freshman Devlin Crawford (Randolph, MA) recorded seventh (26:43) while sophomore Tim Mazeika (Millbury, MA) notched ninth (27:04) to help lead Worcester State University to a third place finish at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational this evening.

Host Fitchburg State (30) took home four of the top six spots in the 8k race to edge Eastern Connecticut (36) as the Lancers tallied 63 points followed by Anna Maria’s total of 105.

The Blue and Gold were also paced by freshman Pat Daley (Millbury, MA) who added 12th (27:24) while classmates Dan Anderson (Sutton, MA) and Neil Rilley (Oxford, MA) crossed the finish line in 21st (28:46) and 24th (29:02), to round out the top five for WSU.

First-year Dan Morrissey (Dudley, MA) and Zach Creeden (Billerica, MA) were 12 seconds off in 29th (30:26) and 30th (30:38), respectively, as junior Eric Thulin (Millbury, MA) placed 32nd with a time of 31:18.

The Lancers will head for a faster course next Saturday when they travel south to the UMass Dartmouth Shiners Invitational.
