Men's Cross Country Finishes Third at Worcester City Meet

Paxton, MA --- Junior Tim Mazeika (Millbury, MA) scaled the five-mile Moore State Park course in 30:08 for 12th overall to help lead Worcester State to a third-place finish at the Worcester City Meet this morning.

WPI won their 15th straight competition and 39th overall since the meet started in 1967 with a team score of 20 points. Fitchburg State finished in second with a score of 45 followed by the Lancers total of 88 points. Framingham State came in fourth with 120 points and Anna Maria added fifth with 123. Senior Chris Kibler of Fitchburg State won the race with a time of 28:42.

Sophomore Pat Daley (Millbury, MA) and freshman Patrick Bova (Princeton, MA) each crossed the finish line in 21st (30:53) and 23rd (31:10), respectively.

Junior Kerry Sabanty (Stoughton, MA) also finished in 36th with a time of 33:14 while sophomore Zach Creeden (Billerica, MA) finished in 39th at 33:43. Freshman Adam Pepin (Paxton, MA) chipped in with 41st (33:51) and senior Eric Thulin (Millbury, MA) added 50th (36:06) to round out the top seven for the Blue and Gold.

Worcester State's next meet will be next Saturday at CCRI's Tri-States Championship held in Lincoln, RI.
