Fort Myers, FL --- Worcester State split a pair of games this afternoon against Smith and Fredonia State (NY) as they defeated the Pioneers 8-0 in six innings before they were handed a 3-2 loss to the Blue Devils.

Against Smith, junior Michaella Mahoney (Shrewsbury, MA) pitched a complete game three hitter with 11 strikeouts. Mahoney also propelled the offense as she went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBIs while freshman Michelle Beaudry (Worcester, MA/St. Peter-Marian) contributed two hits with a run producing double.

In their setback versus Fredonia State, sophomore Marcy Rumrill (Orange, MA) was tagged with her first loss of the season. She went three innings allowing three runs (two earned) as she yielded seven hits and a strikeout. Rumrill (1-1) was finished off by Mahoney who hurled three scoreless innings as she tallied a pair of strikeouts. Mahoney also gave up three hits and hit one batter.
