Softball Plays Home Opener At Refurbished Rockwood Park

Worcester, MA --- The Worcester State College softball team played their home opener this past Saturday against Framingham State College. On hand to throw out the first pitch in a pregame ceremony celebrating the reopening of the field was Chairman of the Worcester State College Board of Trustee's John Brissette and former softball coach, alum and Worcester State College Hall of Famer Lynne Olson.

The project to rebuild Rockwood Park was a joint venture between the Worcester State College, the City of Worcester and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It began in the beginning of the Fall of 2009 and the finishing touches were completed this past week. Among the new features of the facility are a new drainage system, new energy efficient field lights, a new press box, batting cage/bullpen, fencing and on site restroom facilities.
