Mahoney Tabbed MASCAC Co-Pitcher of the Week

Buzzards Bay, MA --- For the fourth time this season, senior southpaw Michaella Mahoney (Shrewsbury, MA) has been honored as this week's MASCAC Co-Pitcher of the Week for helping lead Worcester State to a sweep of MCLA on Saturday.

Mahoney tossed a two-hit shutout and fanned eight in an 8-0 six inning triumph in their opener against the Trailblazers before she picked up a save with a scoreless seventh frame in a 7-4 nightcap victory.

Mahoney is currently 7-2 with a MASCAC leading 1.66 earned run average, in 59.6 innings pitched. Mahoney is third overall in strikeouts (59), tied for third in wins and complete games (7) and sixth in innings. She now has three shutouts this season and notched the 12th of her outstanding career against MCLA.

Mahoney is also batting .380 (2nd on team) with four homers and 23 runs batted in. Her RBI total is tied for first in the conference standings as 13 have come with two outs for WSU.

This week Mahoney shares the honor with freshman Lauren DiCredico (Tewksbury, MA) of Salem State.

Worcester State, who is tied atop the conference standings with Westfield State for first place, will return to MASCAC play with a twinbill against Framingham State later this afternoon at 1 o'clock.

They will entertain crosstown rival WPI in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 5 PM before heading to Bridgewater State on Friday at 2.
