Everson Tabbed With NFCA All-New England Second-Team Laurels

Louisville, KY --- Senior Hannah Everson (Methuen, MA) has received All-New England Second-Team honors as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) this afternoon.

Everson has had a tremendous season as a starting pitcher for the Lancers as she has gone 10-7 with an astounding 0.79 earned run average to go with 101 strikeouts in 124 innings. She has started 16 games and finished them all, blanked four opponents and yielded just 14 earned runs all season.

Among standouts in the NCAA Division III, Everson is sixth in ERA while she is third in New England in the category. Due in large part to the efforts of Everson and freshman teammate Meghan Rich (Chelmsford, MA), the Lancers are also 19th nationally with a 1.66 team ERA and third in the region.

Among single-season standouts in the Worcester State record book, Everson has permitted the third fewest runs and she has the fourth-lowest ERA.

Everson has also been a spark at the plate with a .302 batting average in 23 games to go with five doubles, seven runs scored and 10 RBIs.

For her three-year career wearing a blue and gold uniform, Everson is 34-18 with a 1.56 ERA to go with 327 strikeouts in 360 frames of work with 45 complete games and nine shutouts.

Everson has also earned All-MASCAC accolades in back-to-back seasons. During the 2011-12 campaign she was recognized as the Co-MASCAC Pitcher of the Year for going 8-0 in league play and helping lead the Lancers to the regular season conference championship.

The last Worcester State softball player to earn NFCA All-New England accolades was current pitching coach Michaella Mahoney who was a first-team utility player. Everson was one of eight pitchers recognized on the All-New England team that was made up of 45 players representing 20 different institutions.

She was the only player to receive laurels from the MASCAC.

Worcester State will play tomorrow in the ECAC Division III New England Tournament Semifinals against host and third-seeded Keene State at 9 AM in the first game of the double-elimination tournament.
