
Worcester, MA- After a thrilling end to the 2024 season that saw an extra inning battle on the way to a semifinal finish. The Worcester State Softball team, led by seventh season Head Coach Keri Bianchini, are pleased to announce their 2025 schedule. Worcester ended their 2024 season at 27-16, and will be led this season by seniors Abigail Koziol, MASCAC Second Team catcher, Sarah Gosselin and Emma Lanpher, last year's MASCAC Player of the Year. Joined by an impressive returning core of players and some exciting newcomers to the program, Worcester is set to make a deep run into the playoffs.
"This season we are looking to build on the momentum we have been creating the last few seasons. We have an exceptional group of student athletes who have been working very hard in the off season, both on the field and in the classroom" say Bianchini. "I am so proud of this group. Not only are they tremendous softball players, but they work together as a family and embody our ONETEAM philosophy."
"I am super excited for this season. It being my last season makes it bitter sweet, but we have a great group of girls with amazing team chemistry and I wouldn't want to have it any other way" states Lanpher. "We have so much talent and hard workers on this team that when we put that all together this season we will be able to achieve our goal that we work so hard for day in and day out. I am looking forward to having a lot of fun this season and getting to work!"
Similar to years past, Worcester State will begin their season on the road, and for the second year in a row they will be down in Florida for The Spring Games. The season starts on March 16th with a game against the University of New England and Plattsburgh, with St. Patrick's Day fun versus Milwaukee School of Engineering and Eastern Connecticut. March 18th will have the Lancers match up with McDaniel College and Rutgers-Camden. After a day of rest to break up the week the Blue and Gold return on March 20th for a game versus Keene State and Old Westbury and wrap up their time in Florida on the 21st versus Clarkson and Buffalo State. With their return to Massachusetts, the first on the slate of home games and double header season action is Clark University on March 25th. Worcester will close out the month on the road as they travel to WPI for the Worcester Battle on the 27th before opening conference play on the 29th versus MCLA.
April will see the Lancers back home with an April Fool's meeting with Gordon College, before a trip down to Rhode Island College where they will face off against their former assistant coach and pitcher on April 3rd. Worcester will remain on the road for their conference meetings versus Westfield State on the 5th and Framingham State on the 12th , before journeying to Anna Maria on the 10th and Curry on the 16th for out of conference travel. Worcester State is back on the home diamond on April 16th when they host Bridgewater State in their home conference opener, before two additional away double headers, one versus Fitchburg State on April 21st for the final conference regular season road trip and April 23rd versus Lasell. The Lancers end the season at home versus Salem State on April 26th, Suffolk on April 29th and close out the conference and regular season on May 3rd versus Mass. Maritime with the seniors being honored during the final home stand meeting.
"This season being my senior season is very bittersweet! I cannot believe how fast the past 4 years have gone" says Koziol. "What I can believe is that our team dynamic this year is the best it has ever been. We have all been working so hard on and off of the field towards all of our goals. We will reach our biggest goal of being MASCAC Champions this season. I truly believe the group of girls that we have right now has gelled perfectly to make this dream come true! I cannot wait to see what these next 14 weeks have in store for us!"
