Worcester, MA- In the opening week of the season the Worcester State Women’s Basketball claimed their first award of the season as first year Lena Waldron (Quincy, MA) was named the MASCAC Rookie of the Week. The Lancers had a 1-2 week as they opened the season on November 8th versus Eastern Nazarene prior to hosting the Worcester City Tournament this past weekend.
Waldron Averaged 10.7 points, seven rebounds and 2.3 steals in three games for the Lancers. Finished with 16 points, eight rebounds, a steal, block and assist in the 72-64 setback to Clark and added 13 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists in the 72-60 win over Anna Maria.
Worcester State is next in action down in Viriginia on November 17th when they travel to Marymount University for the Pablo Coto Tournament. They will open the tournament on Friday at 5pm versus host Marymount.
