
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Basketball team, headed up by Coach Karen Tessmer, has been selected 5th in this year’s MASCAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll as voted on by the conference coaches.
Taking the top spot with 24 points and four first place votes was Bridgewater State just edging out Framingham State and Westfield State who ended in a tie for second with 19 points and each with their own first place vote. Salem State would grab the fourth seed with 13 points.
For the Lancers, reigning MASCAC Rookie of the Year Lena Waldron is back after she averaged 10.1 points and six rebounds per game. She also gathered 30 steals, 38 assists and seven blocks in her first season with the Lancers. Worcester would claim 10 points in their fifth-place finish while Fitchburg State would wrap up the voting with five points for sixth.
The MASCAC women’s basketball teams return to the hardwood over the next few weeks with their opening non-conference contests then after the new year, the MASCAC schedule will begin. Follow all the games at mascac.com.
