
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Ice Hockey team returns to action this year under a new home conference this season. After competing, and claiming the title, for the last three seasons in the ECHA, the Lancers will now be competing in the newly created MASCAC Women’s Ice Hockey Conference. The new conference will see ECHA members MCLA, Anna Maria and Rivier be joined by Plymouth State and first year program Framingham State. The Blue and Gold will be led by ECHA Rookie of the Year Fiona Hatton, ECHA First Team selection Lea Gaspar and ECHA All-Rookie Team member Madelyn Franta alongside season veterans Amy MacGlashing and Sydney Vautour who will guide the skilled group of new and returning talent to continued success in the MASCAC.
“We are looking forward to a great season against competitive opponents across the northeast” says Head Coach Eliza Kelley. “The group has been working hard with sights on taking home the first ever MASCAC title.”
Worcester State will open their season up at home as they take on Arcadia in their opening weekend of action with Friday November 1st and 2nd afternoon meeting between the two teams. The Lancers will head on the road on November 9th to Western New England before beginning conference play at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Area on the 12th as they welcome Plymouth State to Worcester. The 15th will find the Ble and Gold matching up for their first meeting with Framingham State on the road before returning home the next day to host Anna Maria in a Saturday night battle. The following weekend will again see a home-away set up for Worcester as they first host MCLA on the 22nd before heading to Rivier on the 23rd. In the final two games of 2024 the Lancers will bring the University of New England to Worcester on December 6th before traveling north to Castleton on the 7th.
Ringing in 2025 will see the Blue and Gold face off heading to Salem State, who will be joining the MASCAC Conference next season, in a teaser match of what is to come for the MASCAC Women’s Ice Hockey Conference on January 4th. The Lancers will remain on the road on the 11th as they head west to Amherst before hosting Framingham State on the 14th and Utica on the 16th. January 18th will once again send Worcester on the road, this one for a short trip across town as they take on Anna Maria. January 24th and 25th will see the return of home-away fun for Worcester as they host Curry college on the 24th before heading out to MCLA on the 25th. January 31st’s matchup with Rivier will take on a special feel as the two teams get set to meet on the ice of the DCU Center in Worcester prior to the Railers game later that night.
February will see the final post season push for the Lancers as they begin with two away, facing off against Plymouth State on the 1st and Framingham State on 7th. The next two will bring Worcester back home as they welcome Anna Maria on the 8th and MCLA on the 15th with the remaining three games going away-home-away. February 15th would send the squad to Rivier with the 21st being not only the team’s senior night to honor the contributions of their seniors, but also their final conference game of the season versus Plymouth State. Worcester will close out their season on February 22nd with a journey to Connecticut College.
