Johns Named MASCAC Rookie of the Week for Sixth Time While Ryan is Tabbed MASCAC Player of the Week

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Ice Hockey team, after a 2-0 week, had two selected to the MASCAC Weekly honors. Repeating for the sixth time this year was first Emily Johns (Clinton, MA) as Rookie of the Week and joining her with a first time honor this year is junior Cailey Ryan (Acton, MA) as player of the week.

Johns secured her sixth rookie of the week honor with a three goal and three point week for the Lancers. She tallied three goals in a 2-0 week for the Lancers, netting a second and third period goal in the 5-4 overtime win over Framingham State. Johns Added a third period insurance goal in the 3-1 in the win over Anna Maria. On the season Johns has recorded 11 goals and six assists for 17 points on the season with two game winners, a power play goal and an empty netter as part of her tallies.

Ryan netted a goal and three assists, including a game-winner in a 2-0 week for the Lancers. She also scored the overtime game-winner and added two assists in the 5-4 win over Framingham State and assisted on a goal in the 3-1 win over Anna Maria. On the season Ryan has three goals and eight assists for 11 points, with all three goals this season being game winners.

Worcester State will return to the ice this Friday at 4:40pm to host MCLA in this seasons senior day game at the Fidelity Bank Ice Center.
