
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Ice Hockey team has made it three on the season for junior Kelsey Czerniawski (Chicopee, MA) and first year Emily John (Clinton, MA) as they triple repeat as MASCAC Goalie and Rookie of the week.
Czerniawski stopped 64 shots with a .970 save percentage and 2.00 GAA in the Lancers’ 3-2 upset victory over UNE on Friday night. Her dominant performance helped the Lancers to a 2-0 lead and held on in the final 6-5 skaters in the final minutes as Worcester recorded goal number three for the 3-2 victory. On the season, Czerniawski sits in 48th nationally in GAA, 2.07, and 20th in save percentage, .954, on the season. She has recorded 228 in the season and is closing in on 1,000 saves in her career with 947.
Johns netted two goals in a 1-1 week for the Lancers’ including the game-winning score late in the third period in the 3-2 win over UNE. She now has on the season six goals with two assists for eight points, one power play goal, an empty netter and game winner.
Worcester State is off for the remainder of 2024 but will be back in action on January 4th when they head to Salem State for a 2pm meeting.
