Johns and Czerniawski Claim MASCAC Weekly Honors

Worcester, MA- Worcester State looked to gain a strong hold on the post season number two spot this past week and their success also garnered double awards for the team. Junior Kelsey Czerniawski (Chicopee, MA) and first year Emily Johns (Clinton, MA) repeated as MASCAC Goalie and Rookie of the Week. Czerniawski claimed her sixth recognition this season while Johns claimed number seven on the year.  

Czerniawski made 54 saves with a .964 save percentage and a 1.00 GAA in a 2-0 week for the Lancers. Stopped 24 shots in the 3-1 win over MCLA. Added 30 saves in the 4-1 win over Rivier to move into first place in the MASCAC standings. Czerniawski currently sits at sixth in the nation with a .956 save percentage on the season while also recording 564 saves for a 1.81 GAA.

 

Johns tallied one goal and two assists in a 2-0 week for the Lancers. Found the back of net in a 3-1 win over MCLA and assisted on two scores in the 4-1 win over Rivier. On the season she ahs recorded 12 goals and eight assists for 20 points with one power play goal, three game winners and an empty netter on the season.

The Lancers are back in action on Friday when they host a crucial game with Plymouth State on Friday at 6:10pm.
