Czerniawski and Johns Awarded MASCAC Weekly Honors

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Ice Hockey team, along with grabbing their first two wins of the season, nabbed two on this weeks MASCAC Weekly Awards. Junior Kelsey Czerniawski (Chicopee, MA) was named this week’s MASCAC Goalie of the Week while first year Emily Johns (Clinton, MA) was named MASCAC Rookie of the Week.

Czerniawski went 2-0 with 30 saves, a 1.50 GAA and .938 save percentage for the Lancers. Made seven saves with no goals allowed in 20 minutes of action in the 9-0 win over Framingham State. Stopped 23 shots in the 5-2 win over Anna Maria. In 199 minutes of action so far this season, Czerniawski has recorded 126 saves for a .933 save percentage.

Johns collected three goals in a 2-1 week for the Lancers, including two in a 5-2 conference win over Anna Maria and added another in the 9-0 win over Framingham State. Johns has now recorded four goals in her first year, one a power play goal, for four points on the season.

The Lancers are back in action on Friday when they host MCLA at 7:20 pm in a continuation of their conference slate of games from last week.
