Jamieson Tallies Game-Winner In Triumph Over Framingham State

Framingham, MA --- Senior attack Brittany Jamieson (Foxboro, MA) scored with 46 seconds remaining in the game to give the Worcester State College Lancers a 15-14 road win over the Framingham State Rams in New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) action this afternoon at Maple Street Field. 

With the loss the Rams are now 1-1 in the NEWLA and 4-3 overall, while the Lancers improve to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference.        

Framingham State took control of the game early taking a quick 2-0 lead on back-to-back goals by junior Stephanie Corrales (Framingham, MA) The Rams extended the lead to 5-2 with 16:49 remaining in the first half on senior Ashley Noonan’s (Mansfield, MA) first goal of the game.

Worcester State responded with a 7-0 run to tie and take the lead just before the half.  Senior Abby Cosenza (Shrewsbury, MA) gave the Lancers their first lead of the game with her goal with 4:30 left in the half.  Junior Colleen Manning (Plainville, MA) scored two goals on the run for the Lancers who took a 9-6 lead into the break after Noonan converted a free position opportunity for her second of the game with 28 second remaining.

Junior Carley MacIntyre (Townsend, MA) extended the Lancers lead to 10-6 just over five minutes into the second half, but the Rams scored four unanswered goals to tie the game at 10-10 with 19 minutes remaining in the game.

Worcester State regained control scoring the game’s next three goals, including two from MacIntyre, to take a 13-10 advantage with just under 12 minutes remaining.  The Rams scored the next game’s next three goals including two with an extra man to retie the game at 13-13 with just over six minutes remaining.

Manning put Worcester State back on top with her fourth goal of the game at 55:09 and Kiley scored her third of the game just over a minute later to tie the game once again with just over three minutes remaining.  Worcester State took the lead for good on Jamieson’s goal off an assist from Kim Vail (West Newbury, MA) with under a minute to play. 

The Rams had a chance to tie the game with just under 30 seconds remaining as freshman Chelsea Temple (Rutland, VT) fired a shot on net, but Worcester State goalie Haley Erickson (Saugus, MA.), who picked up 13 saves in the game, made the save to preserve the win for the Lancers.

Framingham State freshman goalie Kelsey Turner (Billerica, MA) made 10 saves as she was saddled with the loss.  Corrales led all Framingham scorers with four goals and an assist.  Noonan, Kiley and freshman Brittany McLean (Walpole, MA) all finished the game with three goals and an assist, while junior Melissa Price (Norwood, MA) chipped in a goal and a helper.

The Lancers were led by MacIntyre who finished with five goals and an assist, while Manning finished with four goals and a helper.  Meagan Sheehan (Dunstable, MA) chipped two goals, while Amanda Cosenza (Shrewsbury, MA), Vail, Abby Cosenza, and Jamieson all contributed a single goal.  Amanda Cosenza and Vail also picked up two helpers apiece.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they host Thomas College at 2 PM, while the Lancers host Fitchburg State on Saturday at noon.
