Connors Selected MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Freshman Jackie Connors (Ashland, MA) has been named MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week for helping propel Worcester State to a 2-0 week and a first-round home game in this week's MASCAC Tournament.

Connors registered an 11 point week with nine goals and two helpers which included four markers and a helper in a 14-13 overtime victory over Fitchburg State and five tallied and one assist in a 16-5 triumph at Salem State.

In their extra session win over the Falcons, Connors hit the game-tying and eventual game-winning goal with 1:03 remaining in overtime. She also totaled 10 ground balls, six draw controls and a pair of forced miscues.

Connors is currently tied for fifth in the MASCAC in points (59) and assists (19) while her 40 goals this season are tied for seventh.

The midfielder is also enjoying a fine season in the transition game and defensively as she has the sixth-most ground balls in the league, she ties for sixth in caused turnovers (20) and she is eighth in draws with 40.

With 59 points, she has also joined current teammate Molly Kilday and former women's lacrosse standout Ann Clark as one of three first-year players to join the 50 point club in their first season of play at Worcester State.

Connors is also two ground balls away from breaking the school record in the category, two draws from the third highest total and along with classmate Katelyn Murphy (Billerica, MA), she has eclipsed the single-season record for forced miscues.

Worcester State (11-4, 4-2 MASCAC) has earned the third-seed in the conference tournament and they will play #6 Mass Maritime in the Quarterfinal round tonight at 7:30. Should they win, they move on to the league semifinals to take on second-seeded Westfield State on Thursday at 7 o'clock.
