Connors Selected MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week

 

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Freshman standout Jackie Connors (Ashland, MA) has been honored as this weeks MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week for her efforts in helping lead Worcester State to their first ECAC Division III Tournament semifinals apperance since 2008.

Connors netted four goals and seven assists for 11 points in a 1-1 week which included a marker and five helpers in a 11-10 quarterfinal round upset at fourth-seeded Curry before she added a hat-trick and two assists in a 17-11 seback to top-seeded Western New England in the semifinals. 

In their loss to the Golden Bears, Connors was a force on defense with six draws, five ground balls and a trio of forced miscues.

Connors has had a remarkable first-year campaign for the Lancers as she led the team with 77 points on 47 goals and 30 assists. She wrapped up her season second in the MASCAC in helpers, third in points and sixth in goals. 

In addition to finishing her season with the second-most helpers in the record book, Connors also set single-campaign marks for ground balls (67) and caused turnovers (28) while her draw controls (56) were also good for third in the program annuls.

At last weeks annual Senior Awards Banquet, Connors was named the Co-Female Freshman Athlete of the Year for her outstanding team contributions this season.

Under the direction of seventh-year head coach Deb Draper, the Lancers established a new program record for wins in a season at 13-6 and 4-2 in the MASCAC.
