WORCESTER STATE DROPPED BY PANTHERS

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University women's lacrosse team fell to the Panthers of Chapman University, 14-4 on Wednesday night in Orange, CA.

Junior goalkeeper, Savanna Rosado (Milford, MA) made three saves and junior midfielder, Lily Gendron (Lakeville, MA) notched one goal in the opening quarter to keep the game within one for the Lancers.

The Panther's opened up scoring in the 6th minute of play when senior midfielder, Vanessa Topete (Tustin, CA) netted her first goal of the game. Gendron would score just 30 seconds later to tie the game at one. The Panther's struck again in the final seconds of the quarter to give Chapman their second lead of the game.

Gendron would add two more goals in the second quarter, however the Panthers offense netted six goals to put Chapman up, 8-3, at the halfway mark.

Junior attack, Shea Jarvis (Auburn, MA) added the first goal of the third quarter, yet Chapman's defense held strong and kept the Lancers off the board for the remainder of the contest. The Panther defense was led by first-year goalkeeper, Anna Hereu (Wellesley, MA) who stopped six of seven shots in the second half.

Senior defender, Abby Lauzon (Lakeville, MA) led the game in the ground balls category with four. 

The Lancers fell to 3-3 on the loss, while Chapman won their fourth straight, improving to 4-2. The contest marked the second game of the Lancers spring break trip to California. Worcester will return to action on March 22nd at Western New England University, following their return to Massachusetts.
