Worcester State 2, Colby-Sawyer 2 2OT
New London, N.H. --- Freshman Liz Allen (Holden, MA) netted the match equalizer at 70:20 after the Worcester State keeper Erin Doherty (Uxbridge, MA) made a spectacular save off the foot of senior Charger forward Elise Kapp (Yarmouthport, MA). Both squads made attempts to end the game late and in the overtime sessions but were denied by strong defense.
Senior Tiffany Rotatori (Auburn, MA) got the Lancers started in the 9th minute on a burying a great through ball from teammate Amanda Beaudet (Auburn, MA) into the back of the net. Five minutes later, the Chargers knotted the score at 1-1. Liz Allen made a great cross into the box from the left baseline right to junior Laura Sansoucie (Haverhill, MA). Sansoucie finished properly notching her 13th career goal.
Rotatori found the back of the net again in the 32nd minute as she broke free of the defenders and finished into the upper right corner of the goal. Both teams would jockey for field position for nearly 40 minutes without progress before Liz Allen (Holden, MA) knocked in the game-tying goal in the 71st minute.
Both goalkeepers played well for their respective side with Colby-Sawyer keepers Christina Quirk (Milford, CT) making 15 saves. Chargers junior defender Eileen Endyke (Derry, N.H.) played magnificent defense spoiling multiple Worcester State chances.
