Beckman Earns Nod As Co-MASCAC Women's Soccer Player Of The Week

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Senior Brianne Beckman (Lakeville, MA) has been selected Co-MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week for helping lead the charge for Worcester State this past week.

Beckman, who has earned conference weekly honors for the first time in her career, netted five goals and two assists for 12 points in a 2-0-1 week.

She started things off with two markers and a pair of assists in an 8-1 victory over Plymouth State on Monday before she hit home the lone goal in a 1-1 double overtime draw with Colby-Sawyer.

Beckman then finished off her week with two tallies in a 6-2 win over Fitchburg State to help the Lancers maintain their tie for second place in the MASCAC women's soccer standings with Bridgewater State.

Through this last week, Beckman is second in the MASCAC in goals (16), third in points (32) and tied for seventh in assists (6). With her remarkable season, she is only three away from tying or resetting school records in each of the three major scoring categories.

Among leaders in New England, Beckman is eighth regionally in points and points per game (2.13) while her goals per game are 10th (0.867).

With her 12 points in the last week, Beckman moved from 14th to eighth in Worcester State's all-time scoring list. In 71 career games she has 21 markers and 17 assists for 59 points to her credit as she moved past former All-American Lauren Cush's (2004-08) sum of 58 to crack the top 10.

The Lancers (7-6-2, 4-1-1 MASCAC) will play twice in the next week to finish of the regular season. They entertain UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday at 7 PM on "Senior Night" before they end with a road trip to MCLA at 1 o'clock.

Should the Blue and Gold defeat the Trailblazers this weekend they will earn the second seed and first-round bye in next week's conference tournament.
