Women’s Soccer Edged by Westfield in MASCAC Title Game

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Top-seeded Westfield State won the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's soccer tournament with a 1-0 victory over second-seeded Worcester State on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.

A first half goal by the Owls stood up as the only marker of the match as Westfield followed up their regular season championship with their fourth conference tournament title in the past six seasons.

The Lancers finish their season with a record of 9-7-2, having compiled a 5-2-1 mark in NESCAC play.

Delaney Parker (Orange, Mass.) scored her 31st goal of the season in the 24th minute, controlling the ball and beating Lancer keeper Ashley Spellman (Lancaster, Mass.), who made 12 saves in her final collegiate game.

Jenn Rennich (Bedford, Mass.) and Bella Parrotte (East Greenbush, N.Y.) collected the assists on Parker's game-winner, her eighth game-winning goal of the year.

Junior Lauryn Davis (Templeton, Mass.) made six saves to earn the shutout, her 14th victory and fourth clean sheet of the season.

Westfield (15-4-1) will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Division 3 tournament and will await their destination and opponent during Monday's selection show.
