Lancers Take the Victory over MMA to Close Out Regular Season Action

Worcester, MA- In their final regular season game of the 2024 season, the Worcester State Women's Soccer team (7-5-3, 3-2-1) will look to close it out with a road trip win. The Lancers are currently fighting to secure the third seed in the postseason tournament with a win helping their path to success for the tournament.

Final

Worcester State: 3

Mass. Maritime: 1

How it Happened:

The match would initially have a slow and steady start for both teams as each worked to find their own rhythm and groove in the afternoon. Worcester would look to get on the boar dearly when junior Ella Tatarczuk (Bedford, MA) would be awarded a penalty kick after a being fouled in the box after her initial attempt, but the Buccaneer defense was not ready to go down a goal early, as Reagan Kerecz would make the save on the attempt. The Lancers would send off a few more attempts at the cage in the half, but Mass. Maritime's defense refused to budge, sending the game into halftime tied at 0-0.

It would not take too much longer for Worcester to finally find the success they had been looking for when sophomore Olivia Magierowski (Brimfield, MA) would find the back of the net to send Worcester up 1-0 in the 58' minute of action. Just 10 minutes later Tatarczuk would find her earlier denied goal off a cross by senior Maddie Breuer (Hubbardston, MA). Worcester would quickly add to their tally this time with Magierowski getting back into the action for the Worcester 3-0 lead. Worcester would look to extend their shutout streak, but the Buccaneers had other plans, with a goal of their own in 89' minute to set the score and final at 3-1.
