
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Soccer team has been tabbed to finish third in the 2024 MASCAC Preseason Poll as voted on by the conference coaches. The Lancers fell in the MASCAC semifinals to eventual champions Westfield State in a 3-2 loss in a back-and-forth battle to end last season. Worcester finished their season 6-9-2, 5-2 in the MASCAC to claim the third seed in the tournament, a position the Lancers will look to advance beyond this year in their quest to return the MASCAC Championship trophy to Worcester. The team is led by captain and MASCAC First team and CSC All-District team selection Erin Condon.
Westfield claimed the top spot in the preseason poll with six first place votes for 48 points. Bridgewater would nab the second spot with possession of the final two first place votes for 44 points. The Lancers ended in third, tallying up 36 points while Fitchburg State came in fourth with 30 points.
Rounding out the bottom half of the poll was Salem State with 25 points and a tight battle for sixth and seventh between Salem and Mass. Maritime with the Vikings ending with 16 points, just edging out Framingham State at 15. MCLA would claim the final poll position with 10 points.
Worcester State Women’s Soccer begins their season on September 4th with a trip to Wheaton, with their first home game being played September 14th at 4pm vs WPI.
