Worcester State 7, Plymouth State 2
Worcester, MA --- Albana Xhemollari (Worcester, MA), Jacqueline Shaw (Uxbridge, MA), Nicole Sellner (N. Attleboro, MA) and Lauren Cain (Framingham, MA) each posted victories in their respective singles and doubles matches to help lead Worcester State to a 7-2 win over Plymouth State in women's tennis action this afternoon at Shrewsbury High.
The Lancers (1-1) started off the match by sweeping all three doubles matches. Ashley Perkins (Worcester, MA) teamed with Courteney Blais (Paxton, MA) to win, 8-6, while Xhemollari along with Shaw won 7-1 on an 8-8 tiebreaker. Sellner and Danielle Lehman (Westminster, MA) rounded out the finishers with a solid 8-3 victory.
In singles action, Xhemollari, Shaw, Sellner and Cain took home victories in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth spots, respectively, while Panthers (0-3) Rachel Figura (Cheshire, CT) won first singles and Dana Holdredge (Wakefield, RI) was victorious as the second seed.
On Saturday Worcester State travels to Rhode Island College for a noontime matchup while Plymouth State continues Little East play as they host their first home match against Bridgewater State on Friday at 3:30.
