Worcester State 7, MCLA 2
Leicester, MA --- Worcester State took four of six singles matches and swept all three doubles sets to take home a 7-2 win this afternoon over MCLA at Becker College.
The Lancers (2-5) were led by Courteney Blais (Paxton, MA), Jaqueline Shaw (Uxbridge, MA), Nicole Sellner (N. Attleboro, MA) and Lauren Cain (Framingham, MA) each posted triumph's in third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles. In doubles action, Ashley Perkins (Worcester, MA) and Blais won first, 8-3, and then Albana Xhemollari (Worcster, MA/North) teamed with Shaw to win, 8-1, before Sellner and Danielle Lehman (Westminster, MA) earned the third victory, 8-1.
MCLA's (0-5) lone victories were from Kristen Banks (Norton, MA) who defeated Perkins in first singles, 7-5 (9-7) while Carrie Richards (Ludlow, MA) handed Xhemollari a 6-3 and 7-5 setback in third singles.
Both teams continue their season with home matches next week at 3:30. Worcester State entertains UMass-Dartmouth on Tuesday while MCLA hosts Sage College on Monday.
