Worcester State 9, Albertus Magnus 0
Worcester, MA --- Worcester State swept all six singles matches and each of the three doubles sets to post a 9-0 victory over Albertus Magnus this afternoon at Assumption College.
Senior's Albana Xhemollari (Worcester, MA/North), Nicole Sellner (N. Attleboro, MA), Jess Sargent (Clinton, MA) and Danielle Lehman (Westminster, MA) each had a role in the triumph as they each posted wins in third, fifth and sixth singles, respectively, while Lehman and Sargent won 8-0 in third doubles.
Junior Ashley Perkins (Worcester, MA/Doherty) also defeated third-year Amanda Maurer (Hillsboro, NH) in first singles for her first victory of the season in the first seed while freshman Jaqueline Shaw (Uxbridge, MA) swept her match at fourth singles.
Junior Courteney Blais (Paxton, MA) rounded out the group with a triumph at second singles.
In doubles action Blais teamed with Perkins to post a victory in the Falcon's closest match of the contest, 8-4, over the duo of Maurer and Kendra Dowen (Middlesex, VT). Shaw and Xhemollari also won at second doubles, 8-0.
With the win the Lancers have equaled their total from last season with four matches left to play while Albertus Magnus slips to 0-8 on the year.
Worcester State heads to Anna Maria on Friday and will play at Wachusett High School while the Falcons entertain Johnson and Wales on Wednesday. Both matches start at 3:30.
