Southern Maine Sweeps Women's Tennis, 9-0

Worcester, MA --- Southern Maine captured all six singles matches and all three sets in pairs play to defeat Worcester State this afternoon 9-0 in Little East Conference women's tennis action at Assumption College's tennis courts.

With the win the Huskies improve to 5-4 and 2-3 in the LEC while the Lancers are now 4-4 overall and 1-4 in the conference.

Freshman teammates Rachael Miller (Portland, ME) and Emily Boutin (Old Town, ME) along with junior Katelyn Ouellette (Lewiston, ME), sophomore Tegan Talbot (Topsham, ME) and senior Erica Robertson (St. Albans, VT) all won their singles matches in two sets. First-year Sarah Moody (Scarborough, ME) earned the extra-set triumph in third singles over WSU senior Courteney Blais (Paxton, MA) by scores of 6-1, 4-6 and 10-0.

In first doubles, Ouellette and Talbot dispatched of senior Ashley Perkins (Worcester, MA/Doherty) and Blais, 8-4, while Miller and Boutin won second doubles, 8-0, and Moody and Robertson teamed together for the 8-1 victory at third doubles.

Both squads will play again on Tuesday at 4 PM. Worcester State heads to Nichols for a local rivalry battle while Southern Maine will entertain Colby-Sawyer.
