North Adams, MA --- Sophmore Danielle Candelieri (Chemsford, MA) and freshman Megan Shepard (Middletown, CT) earned wins at top flight singles and doubles as they both helped propel Worcester State to a 9-0 win over MCLA on Sunday afternoon.

Candelieri won her first singles match-up, 7-5 and 601 while Shepard was victorious at second singles, 6-4 and 6-1.

Junior classmates Brooke Michanczyk (Middletown, MA) and Laura Sarkis (W. Springfield, MA) also won at third singles (6-4 and 6-2) and fourth singles (6-1 and 6-0), respectively.

Making their first appearance of the season, freshman Cassandra Goncalves (Ludlow, MA) and first-year Page Hirons (Gardner, MA) both earned their first collegiate victories. As the fifth seed, Goncalves won 6-0 and 6-2 while Moriarty took the sixth singles point by scores of 6-1 anda 6-3.

At doubles, Candelieri and Shepard teamed for the 8-1 at first doubles and Michanczyk paired with Sarkis for the 8-0 triumph at the second flight. Goncalves and freshman Paige Moriarty (Agawam, MA) also added the third doubles win by a score of 8-3.

The Lancers have two road trips in the next week. They head to UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday at 3 PM before traveling to Johnson & Wales on Saturday at 1 PM.
