Michanczyk Tabbed Little East Women's Tennis Player of the Week

 

North Dartmouth, MA --- Junior Brooke Michanczyk (Middletown, CT) has been selected as this week's Little East Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her outstanding performance on the court in a pair of wins this past weekend for Worcester State.

Michanczyk registered a 4-0 mark this past week as she defeated her opponent from Southern Maine in straight sets (7-5, 7-6 (8-6) at fourth singles on Saturday and moved up on Sunday to dispatch her foe at UMass-Boston with two consecutive wins at third singles (6-2, 7-6 (8-6) for the match-clinching point.

She would also record a pair of wins at third doubles with fellow classmate Laura Sarkis (W. Springfield, MA) and help the Lancers earn their first-ever spot in next week's Little East Conference Tournament as the sixth-seed. WSU first joined the LEC three years ago.

Through the end of the regular season, Michanczyk is 5-7 overall with a pair of wins at third singles while she is 6-4 at third doubles with Sarkis.

For her career, Michanczyk has 33 points to her credit with a 16-20 mark at singles and a 17-19 record in pairs play. She is currently 11th on WSU's all-time scoring list.

The Lancers (6-7, 3-5 LEC) will travel to third-seeded Salem State in the quarterfinal round of the LEC Tournament for a 3 PM match-up.
