Women’s Tennis Team Helps Donate Nearly 500 Books To The CASA Project

Worcester, MA --- The women's tennis team has helped donate 497 children's and young adult chapter books to The CASA Project, Inc. of Worcester County as part of a semester community service project.

From December 3 through December 12, eight on-campus drop-off boxes were set-up where anyone could donate a book for a worthy cause. The books will be added to The CASA Children's Library, located in the Worcester Juvenile Court.

"This library is unlike any other library as the children get to keep the books," said women's tennis head coach Albana Xhemollari

"We wanted to host a team-building community service project for our women's tennis team," said Xhemollari. "Being a former project coordinator for The CASA Project, Inc., I thought it might be a nice opportunity to make an in-kind contribution as a team.

"I hope that the team will continue to contribute to their community each semester with a community service project like this."

The CASA Project, Inc., a member of the National CASA Association, recruits screens and trains community volunteers to become Court Appointed Special Advocates, also known as Guardians ad Litem (GAL).

Appointed by judges to help on the most heart-breaking cases in the foster care system, CASAs help abused and neglected children navigate the Worcester County Juvenile Courts, one child or sibling group at a time.

The squad also received several donations of books from JCSI Corporate Staffing, Inc.
