Northampton, MA --- The 4x200 relay team of freshmen
Sarah Rafferty (Attleboro, MA), Mara
Kralian (Grafton, MA) and Kristina
Lisacki (Woburn, MA) along with sophomore Becky
Galipeau (Bellingham, MA) took third (1:52.42) and
qualified for the ECAC’s as the Women’s Indoor Track
team placed sixth at the Tartan Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The meet featured five new qualifiers for the postseason as this
was the final tune-up before the conference championships next
weekend.
Amherst won the meet with 170.5 team points while RPI placed second
with 136, followed by hosting Smith who tallied 93. Westfield State
scored 77 points, WPI notched 73.5 points and the Lancers ended the
day with 61.5 points.
Sophomore Andrea Ouellette (Salisbury, MA) took
the top spot in the triple jump for the third time this season in
six meets as she jumped a distance of 10.91 for her best this
season to qualify for the ECAC’s.
Rafferty punched her ticket to the New England Regionals in her
third event with a leap of 4.76 meters as she took fifth in the
long jump while Kralian landed fifth in the triple jump (9.97) to
also qualify for the Regionals in her team-best sixth event.
Galipeau finished seventh in the high jump (1.5m) while junior
Kara Antrim (Rowley, MA) placed fifth in the 600
(1:43.35) to round out the group that qualified for the
postseason.
Ouellette also finished third in the 55 meter hurdles (9.44) and
12th in the 200 (28.88) while Rafferty and Kralian placed second
(7.58) and third (7.68), respectively in the 55 meter dash.
Galipeau sprinted to ninth in the 400 while Rafferty also took
fifth in the triple jump (4.76m).
Freshman Maura Withington (Walpole, MA) recorded
sixth in the 1000 (3:22.32) and 12th in the 600 (1:49.70) while
fellow classmate Meg Plant (Franklin, MA) crossed
the line in eighth in the 800 (2:39.17) and 19th in the mile
(5:55.75). Sophomore Rachel Sullivan (Ipswich, MA)
also ended the afternoon in ninth in the 3000 (12:14.70).
Sophomore Jill Rollins (Leicester, MA) finished
seventh in the weight throw (12.18m) before Christina
Bisbee (North Attleboro, MA) placed ninth (11.93m) in the
same event. Freshman Brittany Stoddard (Orange,
MA) ended her day taking home 14th in the shot put with a distance
of 9.03 meters.
The Lancers will compete again MASCAC/New England Alliance
Championships next Saturday as they look to topple Westfield State
who won the conference crown last season
