Fitchburg, MA --- Senior Amanda Caldarone (Danvers, MA) underscored six qualifiers for the Division III New England Championships with the top finish in the long jump (16-6/5.03 meters) to help pace the Worcester State women's outdoor track and field team at the Jim Sheehan Invitational this afternoon at Fitchburg State.

Other qualifiers included senior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) who placed second in the 200 meters (26.58) before she took the top spot in the 100 meter hurdles (16.91), which was just off the qualifying mark. Jasper also had a toss of third in the javelin (126-6/38.56).

Senior Alexandria McMahon (E. Longmeadow, MA) and junior Dalena Le (Worcester, MA/Doherty) were third (1:07.87) and fifth (1:09.14), respectively, as each hit Division III New England standards in the 400 meter hurdles.

Junior Molly Downing (Dedham, MA) and senior Shannon Trybus (Bondsville, MA) were just off each other in second (133-0/40.55m) and third (132-8/40.45m) to round out the Division III New England qualifiers for the Blue and Gold in the hammer.

Sophomore Aliya-Marie Melville (Worcester, MA/South) sprinted to second in the 400 (1:01.96), senior Brittany Hodgerney (Leicester, MA) placed fourth in the 200 (27.08) and eighth in the 100 (13.46) while sophomore Erin Beccia (Rutland, MA) finished fifth in the 5,000 (19:15.92).

McMahon added fifth in the 100 meter hurdles (17.66) as she was followed by Caldarone in ninth (17.92). Junior Nichole Tillery (Auburn, MA) rounded out the track events with 13th in the 100 (13.63).

The discus was underscored by sophomore Elizabeth McCormack (Gloucester, MA), classmate Caitlyn Brennan (Dedham, MA), and Downing who were fourth (103-5/31.53m), seventh (98-0/29.88m) and eighth (97-4/29.67m), respectively in the discus as junior Hanna Carson (Natick, MA) had a toss of fifth in the shot put (36-7/11.15m).

Caldarone equaled sixth in the triple jump (33-7.50/10.25m), freshman Emily Visconti (N. Reading, MA) chalked seventh in the long jump (14-9.25/4.50m) and junior Francesca Casasanta (Milford, MA) cleared eighth in the high jump (4-7.75/1.42m).

Junior Courtney Spinelli (Tewkwsbury, MA) had a landed seventh in the javelin (109-6/33.39m).

Next week the Lancers will compete at the two-day Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College.
