Relay Teams Propel Women's Outdoor Track At ECAC Division III Championships

 

Springfield, MA --- Highlighted by strong legs by senior teammates Alexandria McMahon (E. Longmeadow, MA) and Brittany Hodgerney (Leicester, MA), the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams narrowly missed out on All-ECAC accolades to help pace the Worcester State women's track and field team at the ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Springfield.

The Lancers did not score any points, but did put up some solid performances at the meet featuring some of the best student-athletes from New England, New York and the Mid-Atlantic states.

The 4x100 of McMahon at lead-off, freshman Emily Visconti (N. Reading, MA), junior Nichole Tillery (Auburn, MA) and Hodgerney at anchor placed ninth with a time of 49:04.

Sophomore Aliya-Marie Melville (Worcester, MA/South) led off the 4x400 relay that also included, junior Eva Bunszell (Bridgewater, MA) second, Hodgerney third and McMahon fourth that notched 3:58.57 that also finished ninth.

Individually, McMahon was 14th in the 400 meter hurdles (1:05.32) and junior Dalena Le (Worcester, MA/Doherty) wasn't far behind in 25th (1:07.73). Junior Hanna Carson (Natick, MA) tossed 15th in the shot put (39-08.75/12.11 meters) while junior Francesca Casasanta (Milford, MA) cleared 18th in the high jump (5-1/1.55m).

Hodgerney recorded 22nd in the 200 (26.15) as the 4x800 meter relay of freshman Kayla Corcoran (Lunenburg, MA), classmate Rachel Lauzon (Carver, MA), sophomore Danielle Cote (Dighton, MA) and freshman Danielle Bavoux (Medway, MA) was 19th (10:11.21).
