WAVERLY, Iowa – After a second place finish in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships last week, freshman javelin thrower, Stephanie McFadries (Burlington, Mass.) grabbed a 14th place finish in the javelin at the NCAA Championships on Saturday (May 28) at the Waltson-Hoover Stadium.

"Getting to NCAA's is a huge accomplishment in and of itself, but to do it as a freshman is even more impressive," stated head coach Andrea Ouellette. "Stephanie did a great job representing Worcester State University at nationals and we are very proud of her."

McFadries threw for a distance of 40.04m, ranking just behind the top freshman competitor from King's (Pa.). California Lutheran's Allie Hadley earned the crown with a top flight of 48.21m.

McFadries finishes out her rookie year with a personal record of 41.50m in the javelin, and a 7.64m mark in the shot put.

"A season long she has been improving and striving to be better, which shows with her multiple personal records this year," commented Ouellette. "She is a great athlete and I can't wait to see what the next few years hold for her."
