WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University women's track & field team has earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team and individual honors for the 2016-17 season, as announced by the association last week.
The Worcester State women's track & field team was one of 294 NCAA Division III teams (183 women's, 111 men's) that were honored for their academics by the USTFCCCA. The Lancers women's track & field team registered a 3.2 cumulative team GPA for the 2016-17 academic year.
Individually, Worcester State University's sophomore All-American javelin thrower, Stephanie McFadries (Burlington, Mass.) earned USTFCCCA individual All-Academic honors for compiling a cumulative GPA of a 3.30 or higher and meeting at least one of the following athletic standards: 1. Competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship, 2. Finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.
This spring season, McFadries made her second consecutive NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field appearance, and took eighth place in the javelin throw with a PR throw of 41.89m to earn her first-ever All-American honors.
She was one of 608 NCAA Division III women student-athletes who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2016-17 track & field seasons. There were 29 women who earned GPA's of 4.0 or better.
