NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Eight Worcester State University outdoor track & field student-athletes competed Saturday on the final day of the NEICAAA Championships at Southern Connecticut State University.
Sophomore Bernice Mensah (Worcester, Mass.) was the only representative from the Worcester State women's team to compete on Saturday, participating in the triple jump. Mensah finished in 16th place overall with a jump of 10.90 meters.
On the men's side, sophomore John Ojukwu (Stow, Mass.) ran the 100 meter dash, after qualifying for the finals on Friday. Ojukwu placed fifth overall with a sprint of 10.86 seconds.
Junior Eddy Acuna (Newton, Mass.) was the lone Lancer thrower to see action on Saturday, competing in the discus throw. Acuna's toss of 46.19 meters was good for a sixth place finish overall.
Joe Grider (Hopedale, Mass.), Richie Custodio (Wakefield, Mass.), Robert Doig (Ashby, Mass.), and Brian King (Stow, Mass.) comprised the men's 4x800 meter relay team for the Lancers on the day, which finished in 12th place with a time of 8:30.42.
Rounding out Worcester State's competitors on Saturday was senior Ryan Connolly (Braintree, Mass.), who competed in both the high jump and the triple jump. In the high jump, Connolly was 12th at 1.91 meters, while finishing 20th in the triple jump at 12.54 meters.
