Gilson, Stokes and Adu-Addo Shine at New England Championships

Worcester, MA- In the final meet of the season before the NCAA DIII Championship field is set, the Worcester State Track and Field team sent a small squad of qualified competitors to Holy Cross for the New England Championships. The meet hosted the top marks across DI, DII and DIII in track and field to determine the best of the best in New England.

 

In day one action junior Brodie Jacques (Rehboth, MA), junior Carly Gilson (Grafton, MA), sophomore Seth Boudreau (Douglas, MA) and first year Ciara Adu-Addo (Worcester, MA) took to their events. Jacques would have double duty on day one competing in both the long jump and 100m prelims. Jacques would finish in 10th in the pit with a 6.70m mark and then go on to speed to a 10.59 second 100m qualifying time of seventh for the 100m finals the next day, which also see him secure a personal best and new DIII ranking of #23. Boudreau would join Jacques on the speed track, crossing in a time of 10.85 for 19th in the event and 8th in DIII at the event. 

 

Prior to the quick dash on the track, Gilson took on the full lap of the Holy Cross track to cross in a time of 62.37 for 29th on the day. Rounding out the day one action was Adu-Addo who claimed 21st in the long jump on a 4.89m to wrap up the first day of activity.

 

Day two would see further Lancers join the day as both the Men and Women sent in their 4x100 to kick off the competition. The Women would hit the track first, crossing in 11th with a time of 51.62 with a quartet of Adu-Addo, senior Eryca Lopes (Ayer, MA), first years Lexie Zakrzewski (Taunton, MA) and Alexis Strong (Southington, CT). The Men's 4x100 would be next on the start, crossing in a time of 45.48 under the speed of senior Anthony Paolucci (Billerica, MA), Boudreau, first year Nolan Clarke (Mansfield, MA) and junior Giovanni Casiano (Oxford, MA).

 

Jacques would then return for the 100m finals where he would place 8th crossing in a 10.90 and the second finisher in the DIII showing in the event.

 

And closing out the day was first year Jadah Stokes (Savannah, GA) who placed 16th in the shot out on a 11.64m toss.

 

Worcester State will await to see if any marks qualify for the National Championship in a few weeks as they wrap up their 2024 outdoor season.
