Worcester, MA- The Lancers Women's Track and Field team was last on the track in 2024, and begin the remainder of their 2025 season in the same place they wrapped up the previous year as they again journeyed to Wesleyan, this time to compete in the Wesleyan Indoor Invite. Leading the Lancers action today was sophomore Ciara Adu-Addo (Worcester, MA), placing 1st in the Long Jump in her return to competition.
Getting things started on the speed side was sophomore Alexis Strong (Southington, CT) with a sixth place finish in the 60m in a time of 8.44. In the 60m hurdles, first year Arianna Farrell (Wilmington, MA) would take 8th in a time of 11.49. In the 400m race, senior Carly Gilson (Grafton, MA) would continue her success also claiming sixth on a 67.27 finish while teammate first year Emily Bodwell (Lakeville, MA) would take 12th at 69.86. Doubling the distance was junior Aubrey Tunnera (Marlborough, MA) who recorded a 2:51.76 for seventh in the 800m. Junior Bridget O'Malley would push it just a smidge further in the 1000m, claiming sixth on a 3:28.38 time just edging out first year Cassandra Dirsa (Bolton, MA) who finished in ninth with a 4:03.94.
For the distance contingent on the day, junior Leah Berg (Worcester, MA) came home sixth with a 6:02.47 while fellow junior Claudia Symonick (Auburn, MA) would cross in 13th at a time of 6:51.02. In the 3,000m race, junior Kelsey Gendreau (Seekonk, MA) took home 3rd in 12:15.42 while first year Samantha Edwards (East Longmeadow, MA) was just under 30 seconds behind in seventh at 12:44.23.
The lone 4x400m relay team in action today made up of Bodwell, Gilson, O'Malley and sophomore Meghan Driscoll (Mansfield, MA) would claim fifth with a time of 4:55.09.
The jumping unit was on point on the field at the meet as sophomore Lauren Condike (East Longmeadow, MA) would reach fourth on her 1.47m bend while first year Alexandria LaPoointe (Fall River, MA) claimed 10th on her 1.37m in the high jump. Condike would also add a ninth place finish in the triple jump on a 9.04m distance to add to her total. In Adu-Addo's return to action she claimed first in the long jump on a 5.24m leap, just ahead of classmate Alexis Strong in 5th at 4.80m.
The throwing pit found equal success as sophomore Jadah Stokes (Chicopee, MA) would claim fourth in shot put at 11.13m. Graduate student Sthanisha Moreau (Taunton, MA) would the day in 10th in the shot put at 10.16m and 18th in the weight throw on a 10.02m mark. Fellow dual thrower sophomore Luana Grau-Moura (Marlborough, MA) would finish 17th in the shot with a 8.56m landing and 21st in weight on9.87m. Closing out the shot put was first year Angela Crognalo-Torrez (Walpole, MA) in 22nd off a 8.06m mark. First year Charlotte Collins (Weymouth, MA) would claim 20th in the weight throw on a 9.95m just edging out senior Arianna Constant in 22nd with a 9.70m toss.
Worcester State is next on the track next week, this time heading north to Plymouth State for the Panther Invite.
