Worcester, MA --- Junior outside hitter Kate McWhorter (Bakersfield, CA) hit at a .733 with 11 kills to help pace UMass Boston, 3-0, over Worcester State in non-conference women's volleyball action at the Lancer Gymnasium. The Beacons won 25-11, 25-12 and 25-8 to improve their record to 8-6 while the Blue and Gold slip to 7-5.
UMass Boston freshman Cassy Hanneman (Denver, CO) distributed 26 assists while classmate Molly Rattigan (Dorcester, MA) tallied eight kills. Junior Megan MacAuley (Upland, CA) notched 11 digs while Hanneman also finished with three aces and four digs.
For the Lancers, sophomore Michelle Maass (Halifax, MA) registered 15 digs while freshman Brittany Stoddard (Orange, MA) dished out 15 assists. Junior Lauren Saylor (Swansea, MA) led WSC with five kills.
Both teams will host conference tri-matches on Saturday. Worcester State will start play with Mass Maritime at 11 and finish with MCLA at 3 o'clock while the UMass Boston will open with Eastern Conneticut at noon and cap off their day with Keene State at 2 PM.
