Worcester, MA --- The Clark University women's volleyball team reached the .500 mark with a three-game sweep over Worcester State College on Thursday night at the Kneller Athletic Center.  Clark is now 10-10 on the year, while Worcester State slipped to 16-9.

The Cougars never trailed as they took the victory, 25-13, 25-9, and 25-18.

While Clark took a commanding 12-point lead (21-9) capped by a service ace from Brittany Meadows (Los Angeles, CA) in the opener, Worcester State crept back into the game with four unanswered points.  However, that is as close as they would get as the hosts' sealed the victory with a 3-0 burst for the 25-13 win.

Much like the first set, the Cougars raced out to a large 11-2 lead in the second game. Solid offensive play by freshmen Amira Tranchell (Falmouth, MA) and Parker Edmonds (Fort Worth, TX) proved to be the difference, as Clark won 25-9.

Worcester State kept the third set close with a key block from Katey Figella (Feeding Hills, MA) to trail by one (14-15) and capitalized on a Clark miscue to tie it 15-all. After the two sides traded points, Clark went on a 9-2 run to close out the set, 25-18.

Edmonds registered seven kills to pace Clark's attack.  Newcomer Nicole Sullivan (Marshfield, MA) posted a pair of kills and three blocks, while sophomore Emily Corbett (Rose Valley, PA) put in a solid night with one kill and three digs.

Worcester State was led by junior Lauren Saylor (Swansea, MA) with four kills. Freshman Joanne Grenier (Orange, MA) scooped up 14 digs and had three service aces, and Brittany Stoddard (Orange, Mass.) dished out eight assists.

Clark will host a tri-match at the Kneller Athletic Center on Saturday. The Cougars start with Pine Manor College at Noon and will finish the day with Trinity College at 4 p.m. Worcester State is off until next Wednesday (7 p.m.) when they  play at Tufts University in a non-conference match.
