Three Teammates Named to All-MASCAC Women's Volleyball team

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Senior outside hitter Lauren Saylor (Swansea, MA), sophomore Brittany Stoddard (Orange, MA) and freshman Becky Lebel (Millbury, MA) have each been selected to the All-MASCAC Volleyball team in a vote by league coaches earlier this week.

Saylor, who was honored on the first-team, paced the Lancers offensive attack as she registered a team high 239 kills while her 187 digs were also second on the squad. To date Saylor’s average kills (2.75) were third-best in the MASCAC were sixth overall.

Saylor was the 2005 MASCAC Rookie of the Year and she has received the nod to the All MASCAC first team in three of her four years at WSC. Saylor wraps up her outstanding career with 1116 kills, 896 digs and 130 aces for averages of 2.90 kills and 2.33 digs.

Stoddard, a second-team honoree, was one of four setters distinguished on the all conference team. Stoddard has totaled team-highs of 496 assists (5.77 average) and 41 aces this season for the Blue and Gold. She handed out the third-most helpers in the MASCAC through the end of the regular season and her average assists were fourth highest.

In her past two seasons as the team's primary setter and best server she has 1,087 assists and 113 aces. She recently passed the 1,000 assist milestone two weeks ago in a conference setback to Westfield State.

Lebel was the only freshman chosen to the all-conference team this season as she received the nod to the second-team. Lebel primarily played on the opposite side and as an outside hitter as she totaled 54 kills and 74 digs this season with 22 aces and six blocks. Her totals of kills and digs were eighth and fifth on the squad, respectively, while she was second to Stoddard for the team-lead in aces.

Worcester State finished the regular season 15-16 and 4-2 in MASCAC play under the direction of fifth year head coach Bernie Chase. The team received a third-seed in the conference tournament upcoming conference tournament and will play #2 Bridgewater State in the semifinals on Saturday at Westfield State.
