Westfield State Hands Women's Volleyball Its First MASCAC Loss

Westfield, MA --- The Westfield State women's volleyball rolled to a 3-0 victory (25-12, 25-7, 25-17) over Worcester State University this evening in MASCAC women's volleyball action this evening.  

The Owls are now now 2-0 in the MASCAC and 6-10 overall. Worcester, 2-1, sustained its first conference setback and is 7-9 overall.
 
Senior Alex Shaw (E. Falmouth, MA) posted a match-high 15 kills to lead Westfield State. Junior Kelsey Leonard (Billerica, MA) had 12 kills and three blocks and fourth-year Kerin DeGirolamo (N. Attleboro, MA) racked up 40 assists and also had two service aces. Sophomore Julia Warner (Lee, MA) contributed 11 kills and 13 digs.
 
Senior Katey Figella (Feeding Hills, MA) and freshman Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) both had five kills for the Lancers and Joanne Grenier (Orange, MA) compiled eight assists. Recording eight digs each were sophomore Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) and third-year Becky Lebel (Millbury, MA).

Worcester State will take the week off before they entertain Simmons at home for a 7 PM tip-off this Tuesday. Westfield State will play Clark at noon and RIC at 2 o'clock in Providence this weekend on Saturday.
