Women's Volleyball Goes 1-1 On Final Day Of Eastern Connecticut Crabtree Classic

Willimantic, CT --- Worcester State defeated Bridgewater State, 3-1, before they fell to Wheaton by the same score. Freshman Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) was honored on the All-Tournament Team as she tallied 22 kills on the final day of the competition.

 

Worcester State 3, Bridgewater State 1 - Box Score

The Lancers defeated the Bears in four sets, 25-11, 26-24, 22-25 and 25-19. Both squads now sport identical 8-12 records on the season.

Jasper propelled the attack with 14 kills as senior Kristen Koles (Billerica, MA) and junior Becky Lebel (Millbury, MA) combined for 15 kills. Senior Katey Figella (Feeding Hills, MA) finished with five blocks (four solo) as sophomore Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) notched 20 digs and five service aces.

Fourth-year Joanne Grenier (Orange, MA) ended the match with her sixth double-double of the season as she recorded 10 digs and dished out 32 assists.

 

Wheaton 3, Worcester State 1 - Box Score

The Blue and Gold (8-13) were defeated in four sets by the Lyons (3-17), 25-12, 25-23, 25-13 and 29-27, in a thrilling fourth set.

Jasper led the effort with eight kills as O'Brien and sophomore Nicole Hanson (Dighton, MA) both combined for 13 digs.

Greiner doled out 15 helpers in the setback for WSU.
 
Worcester State will play again on Thursday at home when they take on Becker at 7 PM.
