Lebel Wraps Up Career With New England Women's Volleyball Association Honor

New London, NH --- Senior Becky Lebel (Millbury, MA) was distinguished with an honorable mention award for her four year contributions by the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) last week.

In addition to being a nomination to the annual NEWVA Senior All-Star game, Lebel was one of 17 honorees to garner honorable mention laurels and the only representative from the MASCAC.

Lebel, a three-time All-MASCAC selection, ended the regular season third in the conference in hitting percentage (.307) while she was also eighth in total kills (215). Primarily a starter at middle blocker, she led the squad in solo blocks (14), block assists (25) and total blocks (41).

Playing in 116 out of a possible 120 matches (375 out of 410 sets), Lebel wraps up her sensational career with 628 kills and 496 digs – totals that are third and seventh all-time, respectively, since accurate volleyball statistics were first kept during the 2003 campaign.

Lebel also posted four year totals of 47 solo blocks, 104 block assists and 104 total rejections.

During her junior campaign, Lebel garnered All-MASCAC first-team accolades for leading the team in kills and for placing second in digs for her efforts in a runner-up finish in the conference tournament.

As a sophomore, Lebel had the second-most kills for a squad that made their fifth ECAC Division III New England Tournament appearance in 2010 and she received a nod to the All-MASCAC second-team as the only freshman in 2009.

The Lancers are coached by eighth year head coach Bernie Chase. The Blue and Gold ended the year at 12-15 overall (3-3 MASCAC) and fell to Salem State in the conference tournament quarterfinals.
