Jasper Helps Pace Women's Volleyball In Split At Salem Tri-Match

 

MASCAC Women's Volleyball Tournament Bracket

 

Salem, MA --- Senior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) amassed 29 kills and 25 digs as she helped pace Worcester State in a split this afternoon at the Salem State tri-match held at the Twohig Gynasium.

The Lancers (22-8) defeated the hosting Vikings, 3-0, before falling to Gordon by the same score. With a 5-1 mark conference play, WSU has earned the second seed in next week's MASCAC Tournament and a coveted first-round bye.

The Bue and Gold take on the winner of Wednesday's quarterfinal between third-seeded Westfield State and #6 Salem State on Saturday at 1 PM in a contest played at Framingham State. The two winners of the two semifinal matchups will play for all the marbles at 3 o'clock in Framingham.

 

Worcester State 3, Salem State 0

 

Senior Alyssa Jasper finished with 17 kills, 14 digs and a .310 attacking percentage as she led Worcester State in a 3-0 triumph over Salem State in the opener of the tri-match in a MASCAC women's volleyball contest.

The Lancers dispatched the Vikings (5-15, 1-5 MASCAC) by scores of 25-17, 25-23 and 25-18.

Junior Jennifer Cabral (Swansea, MA) stuffed the stat sheet with 11 digs, five kills, two solo blocks and a pair aces while senior Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) followed her example with 22 assists, seven digs and four block assists.

Sophomore Jamika Townsend (Virginia Beach, VA) also registered 11 assists and seven digs as junior Kaylee Leduc (Swansea, MA) put up 11 digs.

 

 

Gordon 3, Worcester State 0

 

Senior Ali Remigio (Tewksbury, MA) and junior Meghan Deighan (Lynnfield, MA) combined for 13 kills as they propelled Worcester State in a 3-0 setback to Gordon in the final match of the Salem State tri-match.

The Fighting Scots (13-13) defeated the Lancers in three consecutive sets by scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-23 to earn the win.

Senior Alyssa Jasper recorded her 14th double double in 30 games with 12 kills and 11 digs while junior Jennifer Cabral was solid with 13 digs and four kills.

Senior Amanda Lewis handed out 27 assists and added nine digs as junior Kaylee Leduc and classmate Samantha Patterson (Fayetteville, NC) combined to pitch in with 20 digs to lead WSU defensively.
