Women's Volleyball's Sensational Season Ends In ECAC Tournament Semifinals

 

Springfield, MA --- Senior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) tallied 11 kills, seven digs and contributed four block assists to help pace third-seeded Worcester State in a 3-0 setback against #2 Salve Regina in the semifinals of the ECAC Division III New England Women's Volleyball Tournament hosted by Western New England.

In the loss the Lancers (24-10) tie for the second-most wins in program history while also completing their first 20-win season since 1986. The Seahawks (22-10) went on to upset the top-seeded Golden Bears, 3-0, in the ECAC final.

Senior Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) notched her tenth double-double of the season with 22 assists and 10 digs while also finishing with a school record 958 helpers.

Junior Jennifer Cabral (Swansea, MA) added 11 digs and classmate Meghan Deighan (Lynnfield, MA) chipped in with seven kills and a pair of block assists.

WSU was making their third ECAC Division III Tournament appearance since 2008 and improved their win total by 13 after wrapping up their 2013 sum at 9-19.
